Terms of use

Effective July 11, 2026

These terms govern your use of ScanWrench. By using the app or website, you agree to them.

Diagnostic aid—not a substitute for judgment

ScanWrench is an informational diagnostic tool. Vehicle data can be incomplete, delayed, manufacturer-specific, or affected by the adapter and connection. Findings are not a guarantee that a part is defective or that a vehicle is safe to drive.

Use qualified professional judgment before repairing, purchasing, driving, charging, towing, or working near high-voltage, fuel, airbag, braking, or moving systems. Follow the vehicle and equipment manufacturer’s procedures.

Your responsibilities

  • Do not operate the app while driving.
  • Use only safe, lawful, compatible equipment.
  • Do not clear codes or reset monitors when doing so could conceal a safety issue, violate law, or compromise an inspection.
  • Do not rely on ScanWrench for emergency services.

Beta software

Pre-release versions may contain errors, change without notice, and be unavailable. Back up information you need and report problems responsibly.

Acceptable use

You may not misuse the service, interfere with its operation, attempt unauthorized access, infringe rights, or use it unlawfully. You may not represent ScanWrench findings as a certified inspection unless separately authorized by an applicable certification body.

Third-party hardware and marks

Adapters, vehicles, protocols, services, and trademarks belong to their respective owners. Compatibility references are descriptive and do not imply endorsement or affiliation.

Disclaimers and limitation

To the extent permitted by law, ScanWrench is provided “as is” without warranties of uninterrupted operation, universal compatibility, or diagnostic accuracy. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential loss arising from use of the product.
