ScanWrench is designed to keep diagnostic data under your control. This policy explains what the ScanWrench iOS app and website process.
Information you provide
If you contact us or request beta access, we receive the contact information and message you send. We use it to respond, provide access, and support the product.
Vehicle and diagnostic data
The app communicates with a vehicle only after you choose an adapter and initiate a connection. Diagnostic trouble codes, sensor readings, readiness results, vehicle identifiers, scan notes, and saved evidence records are stored locally on your device by default.
ScanWrench does not sell vehicle data. A diagnostic record leaves your device only when you deliberately export or share it, or when you explicitly submit information to support.
Bluetooth, local network, and location permissions
Bluetooth is used to discover and communicate with compatible adapters. Local-network access is used for Wi-Fi OBD-II adapters. Some iOS versions require location permission for Bluetooth discovery; ScanWrench does not use that permission to track your location. Camera access is used only when you choose a camera-assisted feature.
Website data
Our hosting and security providers may process routine request information such as IP address, device type, timestamps, and error logs to deliver and protect the site. We do not use third-party advertising trackers.
Retention and deletion
You can delete locally saved scans from the app. You can also remove the app to delete its local application data. Support correspondence is retained only as long as reasonably needed for service, security, and legal purposes.
Children
ScanWrench is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the product changes. The effective date above identifies the current version. Questions or deletion requests can be sent to privacy@scanwrench.app.
